Environmental Education Apprenticeship

Join our teaching team by becoming one of our 2017/18 youth programs apprentices. As an apprentice you’ll be a part of a really exciting outdoor environmental education program and gain valuable hands on experience helping children to increase their connection to the natural world.

We offer apprenticeship at our Weekly Nature School Program and Wilder Teens Program. In addition to the hands-on experience and education you will receive while working directly with the children during class, the apprenticeship includes time of direct mentoring outside of class by our experienced instructors.

You will leave this apprenticeship with a solid foundation utilizing the 8 Shields and Coyote Mentoring models to create and implement unique hands on nature education curriculum.

Apprentices must be willing to commit to at least one of the programs above for the whole school year, September through May.  Programs meet once a week for a total of about 33 class days each from 8:30am-4:30pm.

This apprenticeship is not only great experience but is a great addition to your resume. Additionally, we generally attempt to fill new youth programs staff openings with former apprentices before advertising the positions to the public. Youth apprentices will also receive 20% off all of our adult programs.

Tuition: $400  (*Scholarships and work trade are available for apprentices who cannot afford the cost of tuition.)

Note: All applicants must be able to pass a federal background check prior to the start of the program.
