ECO PRINTING
Eco printing is an art in which plants and other natural elements are applied to a printable surface such as paper, clay or textiles to alter color, apply color or create designs. In this course we will examine and try out traditional steam printing, hammered leaf techniques and cyanotype on textiles. We will explore natural dyes as a component, learning about aspects from harvesting plants, to mordants and binders. We will then use this knowledge to create our own prints incorporating flowers, leaves, bark, and sunlight to make patterns reflective of the natural world. Each participant will leave with their own creation, and hopefully the inspiration to continue their adventures in eco printing.
