OUTDOOR FIRST AID FOR KIDS
First aid is one of the most valuable skills a person can possess. Wouldn’t it be cool if your kids started learning these valuable life saving skills sooner rather than later? Well now they can, in our Outdoor First Aid class focused on teaching kids the ins and outs of First Aid.
This course offers youth the opportunity to experience first-hand what it takes to remain calm, think straight, and make good decisions when dealing with injuries in the woods when other medical attention might not be immediately available. This course will cover many basic of wilderness first aid skills that are practical for kids to learn and master.
Course will include topics such as:
-
Camp hygiene and sanitation
-
Water filtering and purification
-
Hyper and Hypothermia
-
Dehydration
-
Cuts and wounds
-
Bites and stings
-
Toxic plants
-
Managing pain and breathing and some local easy to use medicinal plants
Participants will get a chance to learn and experience first aid skills through hands on scenarios and case studies that help build confidence and respect for adventuring outdoors.
Our instructors find a balance of engaging youth in planned curriculum and allowing for spontaneous fun and learning opportunities based on that particular group and what nature presents us with that day.
Note: This is not a first aid certification course and all topics covered are simply informational.
