Participants will need to bring a sharp, fixed-blade knife with a straight edge (no serration) and a hook knife.

Earth Native sells excellent-quality knives at very reasonable prices. Please see below for options. If you choose not to buy a knife directly from us, we highly recommend purchasing a MoraKniv brand knife for this class. If you would like to purchase a hook knife from us, please make sure to provide us with at least one week’s notice before class begins.

WOODCRAFT WORKSHOP
Spoons, Spatulas
& Scoops

Awaken your inner craftsman, following the natural grain in a piece of wood as a beautiful utensil begins to emerge! Can you imagine a kitchen filled with your own handmade utensils and creations that reflect both the beauty of the local woods around you and an admiration that can only come through handmade craftsmanship? Building confidence with knife skills on projects that have both function and form is deeply nourishing and empowering and we hope you join us for this unique class.

Let our expert carving instructors walk you through the process of turning raw pieces of wood into spoons and other kitchen utensils, including Spoons, Ladles, Spatulas, Chopsticks, Butter Knives, and whatever else you can dream up. Sample patterns for the initial project layout will be provided; alternatively, students can choose to design their own unique pattern and design. Participants will make their own take home utensils in class and learn the full process from raw materials to carving, sanding, finishing, and maintaining their pieces.

  • Choosing the right piece of wood
