WOODEN SPOON CARVING
One of the most satisfying things we can do as humans is make a useful tool with our own hands. Carving a wooden spoon can not only open a door for your child into a world of creativity and artistry but it will also help your kids to develop a cool new skill that they can be proud of. This awesome class will teach kids how to make a beautiful and useful wooden spoon out of a piece of Eastern red cedar.
In this class, we will cover:
-
How to split out a spoon blank from a larger piece of wood
-
Spoon carving techniques
-
Spoon finishing (sanding and applying the oil finish).
-
Knife safety and proper knife use techniques
By the end of this class, your child will be well on their way to transforming a piece of wood into a beautiful and unique product of their own creation. Each student will bring home the necessary knowledge and materials to complete a wooden spoon that they can use as a functional tool, admire as a piece of art, and of course, be super proud of.
All materials will be provided.
